Research in Society, Society in Research
UCF’s 2007 Research Week was a huge success, as faculty, administrators, students and researchers gathered to celebrate UCF’s growing research contributions and recognize its outstanding students and faculty. A combined effort between the Division of Graduate Studies, the Office of Undergraduate Studies, and the Office of Research and Commercialization, Research Week was sponsored by United Space Alliance with a $10,000 contribution.
One of the major events was the Graduate Research Forum, co-sponsored by the Graduate Student Association, which is an opportunity for UCF graduate students to showcase their research and creative projects to the university community through oral presentations and posters. The week also had a showcase for UCF undergraduate students to present current and recently completed research projects to the university community. An event that drew a large audience was this year’s Hot Topics panel on Stem Cell Research in our Society, with presentations given by faculty and doctors in and outside of the UCF community. The 2007 Research Week culminated at the Student Awards Breakfast, where students were honored and presented awards for their accomplishments.
